Well, I turned it in.

I dunno if in retrospect I should have just let well enough alone. I mean, I really did want to change the section on hypermobility and then when we got to talking about the inter-relationships of spell taxonomy I could see what Linus meant and I really wanted to work on that.

But somehow last night it didn't come together like I meant it to do. I'm not sure he'll really fancy the results.

Nothing I can do now, though.

Thanks for you help. Next time, I'll just skip Linus and come straight to you.

Are you going to watch the Quidditch on Saturday? It's us against Hufflepuff so I don't know if you'd planned to go. I mean, I don't know if you really follow it when it's not Slytherin playing. But if you are, you could sit with me and Bitsy and I bet Philip would love it, too.

Lines, I'm looking over the notes you wrote on my essay and--well, I didn't think it was bad as all that, was it?

I mean, the bit about the protective spells. I guess you could use it as sort of a notification spell, too, and that's really a good point. I could put that in. Although it sort of changes the whole point, but that's okay, it's worth including it.

But I thought the sneezing ones were sort of clever, anyway. And the nosebleed one. I guess if you really think they're naff, or too simple, I could think of some others.

Perks, you've already turned yours in, right? If I took out two or three of the spells Lines thinks are bad choices, would you want to look up some others with me in the library, after lessons? I've only got 'til Thursday if I'm going to redo the essay.

Lines, mate,

Can you look over my essay for Dolohov? I want to brush it up one last time but now we've got to turn them in Thursday and there's all that Potions and Charms and Astronomy to finish up before then.

I just think the section on spells that create hypermobility could use a little more, I dunno, more depth. If you know what I mean?

If you can look at it today I should have time to redraft it by Thursday, don't you think?

And you could have another slice of my birthday cake, if you like. I've got about four pieces left, so that's one more for me and Bitsy and Sally-Anne someone else.

It's probably a bit late to be asking, but have either of you found a partner for the Noble Arts assignment this week?

I was thinking, get it over with quickly and then it'll be out of the way for Hogsmeade.

Maybe people could meet up tomorrow night to practise? F-F, you've arranged things like that before and people come when it's your idea, so. Maybe if you think it's a good idea, you could ask about?

Only...Perks, don't take this the wrong way, but.... Well, I think some of us would be more comfortable if Crabbe and Malfoy and Zabini and all weren't there. I just mean, people who are really cracking at casting and don't mind having a bit of fun with it.

It's just a question of being able to trust they won't do anything besides the spell we're supposed to be using. You know? Or...like when Professor Dolohov would zap people after they cast the hex on him. I don't want any of them deciding to use some nasty spell and then say they were only carrying out a teacher's instructions.

F-F, I figure you understand what I mean, yeah? The way those older French lads used to go after you.

Oh, speaking of which, you've seen what Begy, Page, Higgs, Pucey, Tamblyn and all are up to, right? You know about their meetings after curfew?

What's really interesting is that some of them are even Prefects.

Well, anyway. Tomorrow? What do you think?

So, let's get this straight:

Our parents are supposed to get hold of books you can't buy, to answer questions about a subject we weren't supposed to be taking, as an introduction to the books that we sort of can buy but sort of not, and they're supposed to read them before we go to school. On Saturday.

That's naff, that is. Innit?

Sue, what do your parents think? They can't be happy about it. And Weasley? After that fiasco with Lockhart's books, are they really going to get all those for all of you?

Seems bonkers to me. I mean, Miss Professor Carrow as good as said some of us are just not suited to Dark Arts, anyway.

What I don't get is why we need another subject. Or why we need all those books just for a theory class.
